Prosecuting Moussaoui, The Token Terrorist Behind 9/11

In law, fraud is a “false representation of a matter of fact whether by words or by conduct, by false or misleading allegations, or by concealment of what should have been disclosed that deceives and is intended to deceive”. In contract law, fraudulent misrepresentation is when “the representation is made with intent to deceive and with the knowledge that it is false.” The prosecution of Zacarias Moussaoui for the attacks of 9/11 fits these definitions completely.

This trial of the only person the government has connected to the 9/11 myth was fully sensationalized. Focusing on the deaths that occurred that day, the families’ agony, the testimony of Rudy Giuliani, were all designed to open the still raw emotional wounds felt by our collective psyche. It is utterly amazing what extraneous information was used. The prosecution brought in pictures of bodies found in the Pentagon. They raised the drama level by playing the voice recorder tapes, which had only been listened to by a few family members before this point. Parts of cell phone calls were brought in as evidence, despite the evidence that exists which disprove they were even possible. Furthermore, the prosecution strategists must have known they would have a difficult time pinning 9/11 on Moussaoui, since one of their attorneys, Carla Martin, actually tried to influence aviation witnesses and was subsequently removed from the trial.

In all the drama, there are two central points that were totally missed. First, prosecuting Moussaoui for 9/11 was baseless because the government’s account is itself a monumental fraud. Its story is unproven and unprovable. Second, senior FBI officials clearly obstructed attempts by field agents Coleen Rowley and Harry Samit who were tracking Moussaoui and desperately trying to obtain a FISA warrant to investigate him. Instead of being fired, these senior officials named David Frasca, Michael Maltbie, and Marion ‘Spike’ Bowman, were promoted. They were rewarded for making sure Moussaoui wasn’t detected and his laptop computer wasn’t analyzed. When the laptop was finally looked at after the attacks, it was discovered that it contained information which could have led agents to others in the ‘patsy network’. Instead, they remained protected.

Let’s add in the fact that one of 70 memos submitted by Harry Samit in his desperate attempts to clear the way to investigate Moussaoui was edited by Michael Maltbie with key details deleted, according to LA Times staff writer Jason Serrano. Samit later described the senior official’s actions as ‘criminally negligent’, yet another crime. In fact, another Minneapolis agent’s e-mail stated that senior officials were “setting this up for failure.”

Now let’s add in the fact that Moussaoui wasn’t taken seriously by high ranking al Qaeda operatives, according to an Associated Press article on March 26. He was portrayed as a misfit who refused to follow orders. Can anybody think he would ever be capable of flying a commercial airliner after a few flight lessons? Yet, the media treatment of Moussaoui has served to spread the evil hijacker myth in calculated fashion.

 Although the government would have us believe Moussaoui wasn’t investigated prior to 9/11 due to FBI incompetence and bureaucratic bungling, only people stuck in the worst kind of denial or naïveté can be satisfied with that conclusion. Despite numerous mainstream articles revealing crimes of obstruction within the FBI, the media and American public has remained in a state of invincible ignorance, and blind to yet another smoking gun.

Now that the verdict of life in prison has been delivered, many family members will still not be satisfied until all secrecy gets lifted, and there’s full exposure of what really happened on those planes.

Citizens need to make the case that the true orchestrators of the attacks have not been brought to justice, and the prosecution of one dubious patsy character in no way can dispel the myths we’ve been fed. Let’s demand that the information held by the Pentagon be released now.

Let’s expose this fraud. Justice must be persistently pursued until the wall of deception gets pierced or falls of its own weight. This could happen at any time. There are signs showing that momentum is on our side.
